Day 57

Sorry, I cheated, but I wanted to post my second favourite picture from the Muse concert. They brought these giant inflatable eyeballs that were filled with confetti, and released them into the crowd. Whenever one would reach the stage, Matt would run after it and pop it. Muse knows how to perform.

Day 56

March 13, 2010. A day I will never forget as long as I shall live. For it was the day that I saw Muse live in concert. My mind was blown. It was the most amazing experience of my life; I'm a raging Muse fan, and I felt pretty starstruck when I saw my favourite band right there in front of me. Maybe not riiight in front of me... but my seat wasn't terrible. This is my favourite picture of the night.

Day 55

Ta daa! Pink hair for a few days. Figured I would like to try it at least once in my life.

Day 54

A memoir for my blonde hair before I dyed it.

Day 53

A final farewell to The Pumpkin that has been rotting on my porch since Halloween. I was going to throw it away much earlier but it became something of a joke science project... I'm sure the neighbours didn't see the humor.

Day 52

Lovely sunset.

Day 51

My buddy came for a visit and brought his fake lab coat. No we did not play doctor.

Day 50

What a beautiful horse. I saw it laying on its side a few days later, and now it has been moved from the corral... I really hope that it just had a colic or something minor.

Day 49

There was some very peculiar looking snow on my car one day. I don't really know why it formed bars like that. Cool looking, though.

Day 48

I came across this moth one day in the snow. It was barely alive, so I put it in a pine tree where there was a wind buffer. I'm sure it died shortly after, but I like to think I helped.

Day 47

Bikes in the snow.

Day 46

I fell asleep for about an hour one day with my legs curled up and one hand stuck between my calves. When I awoke, I had a perfect imprint of my fingers on my skin. No idea where my pinky went though.

Day 45

Ewww... sliced my thumb on a soup can lid.

Day 44

A bit blurry, but it was windy and cold and snowy on the river.

Day 43

One of the facilities in which I work... it is absolutely terrifying to go there alone late at night. I'm sure you can understand why.

Day 42

Ugh snow.

Day 41

Sick of all the snow pictures? Yeah try living in them... a giant middle finger to you, winter.

Day 40

More snow.

Day 39

Snowman building.

Day 38

Some Tawas friends came to visit. It was a lovely surprise. Zeppelin (pictured here) gets bigger every time I see him.

Day 37

Rose garden in winter

Day 36

Carnations. Isn't that cute? My friend's sister got it for her.

Day 35

Even in the snow, somebody visits this memorial plate in the gardens and leaves flowers every once in a while.

Day 34

It was a sad day when I finished the rest of my paczki.

Day 33

Yup. More snow pictures. BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY THING THAT HAPPENS IN FEBRUARY IN MICHIGAN.

Day 32

GIANT SNOWFLAKES. It was snowing a ridiculous amount this day.

Day 31

Braided limbs

Day 30

Uh so.... I haven't uploaded any pictures in a really long time. Keep putting it off. Most of them were of snow anyway.... there wasn't much else to photograph in the past few weeks. So here comes all the catching up.

Day 29

Camping trips are never complete without dogs. This one was accompanied by Moe, the golden, and Zeppelin, the German shepherd. They played out on the ice for a solid hour, and had a wonderful time sparring with each other.

Day 28

Today I went camping on the ice at Lake St. Clair. I was surprisingly cozy and warm the entire time. Our fire was finnicky, and I don't blame it- we built it on ice. Ice turns to water when it heats up. Fire and water don't get along so well.

Day 27

I have this weird love for trains. Not the type that a train enthusiast would have, but just an appreciation for the way they feel and sound when you're standing close to them. This one passed as I was walking to class; I slowed down on purpose so that I would be caught on one side of the tracks, and used the time to take pictures and appreciate the snow being swept up in the air current alongside the boxcars.

Day 26

Today, in my environmental physiology class, we were asked to create "organisms" with certain limiting factors by using the provided materials. A somewhat childish activity, but we all loved it nonetheless. This organism had to be a foot tall and freestanding. We added some interesting artistic flair....

Day 25

Massive snowstorm today. Despite getting several pictures of neat snow-covered objects, and a shot of two semi trucks that rolled off the highway, this remains my favourite picture for the day.

Day 24

Happy birthday to me :)

Day 23

Well it's been a week since I've updated this puppy, so I'll have to go back and do an entry for every day. Here's my Monday picture. I got a McGriddle from McDonald's.... not that enjoyable, but I was hungry and out of time. As I was unwrapping it, I happened to notice that the word "bacon" viewed upside down and through the wrapper still very noticeably spells "bacon." It's kinda weird.

Day 22

Frozen tide pool by Lake Huron.... the grass is partially underneath the ice, and still living where it's poking through. Take a close look at the air pockets around the grass sheaths. How cool is that?

Day 21

Today I visited Tawas Point, the place where I spent much of my summer. It looks insane right now- I've never seen a frozen Great Lake before. It reminds me of Antarctica.

Day 20

I went up to Oscoda this weekend with my buddy Andrew... he owns property along the lake up there. We went out late at night to try and set some lines for ice fishing, in hopes of catching breakfast. Unfortunately, it was too difficult to safely navigate the ice in the dark, so we gave up.

Day 19

I have to cross the train tracks every day on my way to and from class... I always hope to be caught by a train so that I can stand as close as possible and feel the ground rumble.

Day 18

I try really hard not to be a photo whore, but every once in a while I like to play with makeup a bit and take pictures of the results so I can refer back to it later (the other picture of me on here is actually the same sort of deal). This is an eyeshadow look inspired by a Kelly Rowland in a David Guetta music video.... I had heard like two songs I liked from him, and decided to do a Youtube search. The video where I saw this eyeshadow wasn't very good, hence why I noticed the makeup more than anything else. Unfortunately it didn't turn out too well... I didn't have quite the right colours, and the original look was on very pretty creamy coffee-looking skin. I don't like it, but it's the only picture I took this day. Colours used: Shimmer light cream, shimmer toffee, bright pink, bright pastel purple, royal purple, royal blue, shimmer light blue, teal, shiny pink-gold, grey smoke, and black. All that work in blending and shading for very little result....

Day 17

Cuteness levels have reached critical mass. Meltdown sequence initiated. Please cover ears to protect yourself from the unearthly squeals I am about to emit.

I'm having a hard time controlling myself when I check on the mouse pups these days.... they get cuter every day. Literally, every day.

Day 16

We had a computer lab day in my Fisheries Management class. Er.... I got a little carried away with customizing my work space.

Day 15

The remnants of my uncarved Halloween pumpkin. It's been on my deck ever since. I should probably throw it away soon....

Saturday, January 30, 2010

Day 14

And here is somebody exhaling hookah smoke through their shoe. I don't know why.

Day 13

Today, I had a great deal of fun staying in with my buddy Andrew and just... doing whatever it is we do. It's so bad- I rarely go out anymore on weekends because I have too much fun staying in and being a dork. So here's me. Being a dork.

Day 12

I decided to make a delicious midnight snack of hash browns (I have like ten billion potatoes that will be going bad soonish), and cooked them in my cast iron skillet that had been soaking in the sink for the past few days. I know, soaking a cast iron skillet pretty much ruins it... got behind on dishes, what can I say. Anyway, washed it, cooked in it, then noticed my potatoes were turning a funny greenish-grey colour. There's also little specks of black from the skillet itself. Probably not safe to eat..... (I ate it anyway). Don't worry, the red is Frank's Red Hot.

I'll keep you posted on whether or not I die of lead poisoning.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Day 11

Hole-y crap! My shoes are not doing a very good job of helping me survive the winter. In case you were wondering, having snow inside your shoe is quite an unpleasant experience.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Day 10

I have a canopy bed without a canopy or curtains. I love it anyway. Today, I realised that my laundry was still too damp to put away, and decided to dry it on the best clothing line I have- my bed! Now I can kinda pretend I have a canopy...

Day 9

Some more of the mice I take care of. Again, they're very happy and well cared for little buggers. These particular guys are new and young, and were exploring their new surroundings. While I was in the room weighing them, all the lights went off- apparently the staff adjusted the schedule without informing us. Normally the lights in that room are programmed to go off at 6; imagine my shock and momentary terror when they unexpectedly cut at 5:15. The manual override switch seemed to be stuck, and I couldn't get the lights to go back on- I had to finish my work in the dark. I wouldn't have been so freaked out had I not been in a room full of mouse cages and machinery, in a giant facility with no other human beings in it! At least I hoped there were no other human beings, because all of the employees had gone home long ago... creeeepy.

Day 8

I don't know what it is about these ponies, but every time I drive past them I kinda lose control. They just overload my cuteness threshold, and I begin to squeal like a 13 year old Twilight fan waiting in a crowded theatre for the newest movie to start. They are just insanely adorable. These aren't the cutest two; there are several more ponies in with them that are even smaller and even more squeezable looking. WANT
